SpaceX Is Blowing Up A Perfectly Good Rocket On Sunday


SpaceX will launch its Crew Dragon in-flight abort test flight to Sunday, Jan. 19, at 8 a.m. EST (1300 GMT) and then blow it up.  This is a just a test to see to see if it can carry a crew to safety in the event of an accent or emergency.  There will be no Crew aboard during the test on Sunday.

SpaceX designed Crew Dragon to be one of the safest human spaceflight systems ever built. To date,the companyhas completed more than 700 tests of Crew Dragon’s SuperDraco engines, which will power the spacecraft away from Falcon 9and carry crew to safety at any point during ascent or in the unlikely event ofan emergency on the launch pad. In May 2015, SpaceX completed a pad abort demonstration of Crew Dragon.
